Farhan Beig’s Journey with Hunar Academy and Khattati

“I am an Urdu teacher, and I should know how many different ways an alphabet can be written. Children will learn from me,”  said Farhan Beig (41) , sitting in the class of Hunar Academy with an Arabic calligraphy sheet on his desk.

Farhan Beig is an Urdu teacher by profession who six years ago developed a passion for learning Arabic calligraphy but could not learn it due to his hectic schedule.

During an Urdu carnival organized by the Urdu Academy, Mr. Farhan Beig came across Hunar Academy and its Khattai program led by Mr. Waseem.

Through Khattati, Miles2Smile and Hunar seek to fulfill two core human desires: creativity and compassion. By channeling our passion for art into designing, painting, and selling exquisite Arabic calligraphy, we aim to raise funds to support our orphan care and Hifz programs, helping underserved communities.

The classes and workshops provide a welcoming environment where participants can comfortably enhance their skills.

Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a beginner, the Khattati initiative offers the chance to learn valuable new skills to enhance your art.

Mr. Farhan, a teacher by profession, feels blessed to be a student again. “I feel happy that, along with being a teacher, I am also very much a student,” Mr. Farhan said.

Viewing through the lens of a teacher, Mr. Farhan proudly states that he has found the best calligraphy teacher.

“Waseem Sahab is an ocean of knowledge. He possesses immense expertise and teaches calligraphy from start to finish with such dedication and excellence. No one can be better than him.” Mr. Farhan claimed.

On sharing his views about Hunar Academy, Mr. Farhan said, “Hunar Academy’s love for Urdu is evident in their courses. It’s clear that they haven’t created this to generate income; their purpose is not to build a business but to impart skills.”

The aim of Hunar Academy  is to foster an inclusive and dynamic learning environment that goes beyond teaching practical skills, encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and adaptability. Our vision is to establish ourselves as a center of excellence in skill development, renowned for cultivating highly skilled, socially responsible individuals who make significant contributions to the global workforce.
