Khushi, without doubt, is a rising star. She is an alert and attentive girl and her curious and eager temperament make everything more interesting. Khushi is not an ordinary girl and the story she holds will always make her stand out of the curve. Her story encompasses emotions that no words could ever explain. Khushi is a young gullible kid who lost her father to the Delhi Pogrom, 2020, when she was eight years old.
Her father was heartlessly strangled with the smoke of fire and burnt alive. The smoke not only burnt her father but also her entire psychological self. The brutal incident shook her soul to the core. She was devastated and lost somewhere between her young age and the horrific death of her father.
When girls of her age used to play hide and seek, Khushi hid from the reality of her life. She struggled to run away from the thoughts of her mind.
Khushi could not understand how her mind eroded the thoughts of innocence and became equipped with melancholy.
Gradually, she got completely lost, not uttering a word for the entire day. Her small home window became her favourite spot to find tranquillity.
Her worried mother noticed a change in her persona. On one fortunate day, she decided to take her out of her home, away from her window. The day changed the entire life of Khushi once again, but this time, on a positive note.
While wandering around the dark, burnt lanes of Gokulpuri, her mother found hope in a smile. She saw a yellow tent with people radiating rays of optimism. On getting closer, she learnt it was a camp organised by the Miles2Smile Foundation, a project solely designed to enroll young kids like Khushi and educate them throughout.
Her mother hurriedly took the forms that were being distributed, and she didn’t waste a second in filling it out. As a result of which her Khushi got enrolled in ‘Sunshine Public School.’ Miles2Smile along with a Delhi based NGO Shaagird Foundation sponsored her enrollment and education.
Khushi’s life after Miles2Smile
After meeting Miles2Smile and getting in touch with Sunshine Public School, Khushi is healing from the scars she did not deserve. She studies with her peer group and plays with them during her lunch break.
Khushi learns new words of English every day and explores Science and Computers. Solving tricky Mathematical problems has become her hobby.
The educators at Sunshine Public School are kind enough to make her feel loved and help her whenever she needs them. Khushi has found her “Khushi” of life again.
