From Timid Boy To Rising Star: Zubair’s Journey Of Cricket And Confidence

Many children every day dream of becoming cricketers, but they cannot pursue their passion because of financial constraints. Zubair was one of them. He hails from a small town where being a cricketer is like a dream that can never be achieved. He, like other children in his society, thought he would never be able to hold a bat and hit a century. But fate had an unimaginable direction for him. It chose not to rob him of his childhood. His fate took a beautiful turn when a Delhi-based NGO, Miles2Smile, became a part of his life.

Miles2Smile, along with the Shaagird Foundation, enrolled him in Sunrise Public School. It is an institute incorporated by them to help children like Zubair. Zubair is currently a student in middle school. He loves chasing his dream.

Zubair hits a century in the playground of Sunrise Public School. He aspires to become a cricketer. He was a timid boy when he first crossed the thresholds of Sunrise Public School. With each boundary he cleared, each run he stole, Zubair’s confidence grew.

Sunrise Public School is not just a place of textbooks and exams for him. It is a vibrant colour in a world that sometimes feels a little monochrome. From drawing competitions where artists paint the world to the club of drama, he participates in all the activities.

Taking inspiration from MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, Zubair practices cricket every day. The annual day is the highlight of his school life, but he also knows the significance of education.

Budding cricketer Zubair sits in the classroom of Sunrise Public School and learns to solve mathematical problems, the practicality of computer applications, and linguistics.Along with hitting runs, he gets the highest marks in maths.

Zubair sees Sunrise Public School as a ray of light at the end of the tunnel. He never fails to complete his homework. When stuck somewhere, he takes the help of his brother Dawood, who is also a student at Sunrise Public School. Dawood wrote his board exams a few months ago and will continue his studies with the assistance of the Miles2Smile Foundation.

At home, he plays with her little sister, Sarah, and teaches her poems. Her sister is a student in the class nursery at the same school. Zubair is not an ordinary boy; he is the rain on a sunny day.

Zubair shares a unique bond with his mother. He pours his heart out to her, with every worry and every hope. It was his mom, after all, who had planted the seed of cricket in his heart, a dream that had blossomed into his own burning ambition.

Her mother works at the Sabaat Center, incorporated by Miles2Smile and the Shaagird Foundation. It was established to empower the women who have witnessed the traumatic episode of life.

His father, Noor Alam, is the motivational force behind the success of the family. He helps the members in whatever way he can.

Zubair sees the playground of Sunrise Public School to be like his favourite cricketers. He embarks on a journey of education and skill development.

It  introduced him to the vibrant sides of life by enrolling him in Sunrise Public School. It is a relief school of  Miles2Smile and the Shaagird Foundation that provides education to those who are deprived of it.

It provides a platform for the children with the notion that every child counts.

Sadiq is a student in grade 6 and has captured eyeballs with his mesmerising drawings. He has a mind full of thoughts and magic in his fingers. He leaves everyone in awe with his talents and determination.

Under the shade of Sunrise Public School, Sadiq’s knowledge has surged incredibly. He is well versed in English, Hindi, Science, Math, and Computers.

Known for his drawings, he’s always in demand for all the art competitions.

During his free periods, he could be seen frolicking around the playground of his school with his friends. He is a focused student with a desire to achieve his dreams. His unwavering determination often leads him to give extra time to his studies.

Back at his abode, he completes his homework with sincerity and revises his lessons whenever he can. When tired from his studies, he cuddles his mother and finds solace in her warm arms. He plays with her and makes her laugh when she’s frantic.

Sadiq loves helping her with the day-to-day chores and embarks on a journey to protect her in all ways possible.

Miles2Smile wishes them happiness and serenity!
