Shattered Dreams and Unwavering Hope: Nijri and Sariyam’s Journey to Rebuild

On that heartbreaking day, August 3rd, tragedy unfolded in the quiet Nalhar Village of Nuh. It wasn’t just buildings that were torn down; it was the dreams and hopes of two families – Nijri and Sariyam – that crumbled to dust.

Nijri, a 56-year-old widow and mother of three, had her world shattered when her home was mercilessly bulldozed during a recent demolition drive. The pain was so deep that her emotional accounts caused her to faint multiple times. Her family, left homeless, was now forced to endure the harsh nights under the open sky. It was a cruel twist of fate that left them not only without shelter but also devoid of hope.

The Miles2Smile Foundation, moved by Nijri’s plight, initiated a fundraising campaign. Their aim was simple yet profound: to provide much-needed assistance to Nijri and her children. They wanted to help alleviate the immediate housing crisis and, more importantly, restore a sense of security and stability to their shattered lives.

Sariyam’s family, a household of six, including four young daughters, found themselves in dire straits as well. The communal and arbitrary demolition came as a result of events that spiraled out of control during the Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra in Nuh District, Haryana. Their home was obliterated, leaving them no choice but to endure the hardships of sleeping under the open skies.

To make matters worse, their already fragile financial situation was pushed to the brink, as their household belongings were also destroyed in the process. The pain of losing a home was compounded by the loss of cherished possessions, leaving the family in a state of despair.

In response to this tragic situation, the Miles2Smile Foundation once again stepped in, aiming to alleviate the family’s distress. They launched a campaign to raise funds, hoping to provide essential assistance and aid in the difficult task of rebuilding their lives.

Miles2Smile’s goal was to raise 4 lakhs for Nijri and Sariyam, and although they managed to collect 3.97 lakhs, the unmet gap represented more than just a number; it symbolized the struggles and hardships that these families faced in the wake of an arbitrary demolition that had left them not only homeless but also with shattered dreams and uncertain futures.
