The year 2022 witnessed a spate of communal violence in the nooks and crannies of the country. Torched vehicles, flattened properties, and ruins of livelihoods were splashed in various regions.
On April 10, 2022, Hindu right-wing organizations held processions across Gujarat. Groups such as Ram Sena, Antar Rashtriya Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, and Vishwa Hindu Parishad organized “Shobha Yatra” processions in Khambhat, located in Anand district of Central Gujarat, and Himmatnagar, in Sabarkantha district of North Gujarat.

During the violence, many innocent lives were shattered and much happiness was snatched. Moina Bano, a resident of Ashraf Nagar Kasba, was one of the victims. She was usually doing her daily chores when a loud hubbub of the Hindutva mob broke the peace of her life.
Moina’s house was charred down within an hour, leaving her standing amidst the fully and semi-burnt properties.
When her husband went to lodge an FIR against the Hindutva mob, to his surprise he was detained.

“My house has been burnt down. We built it with all our wealth. What do I do now?” Moina said while talking to Miles2Smile; her face was engulfed with distress.
Monia struggled to manage her daily chores; her entire kitchen turned black.
Standing in front of her burnt house, Moina narrated her entire ordeal; never in her dreams did she think she would face this injustice.

Miles2Smile promised to help her reconstruct her house, and to accomplish this promise, we raised funds.
With the selfless contribution of our donors, we were able to fulfill our promise.

We helped her transform her charred property into a new one, a better one.
“Thank you, Miles2Smile, for the help. The mob vandalized my house, but Miles2Smile gave me my home.” Moina said while living in her revamped property.
