Jafar is one of those who incurred the maximum loss in the Karauli Violence, 2022. His shop, loaded with the stock of a significant amount, was targeted and looted by the mob. As his business was largest in the area, he had apprehension of targeted attack.Jafar tried to secure his shop by closing down, but could not save it. A day after, all his savings lay in soot and he was sobbing incessantly when the organization visited him. The organization was aghast at the immense financial loss.
“We were sitting at the shop, the mob started shouting ‘Jai Shree Ram’ slogans, and then came and set it on fire.” Jafar claimed.
“Everything has been destroyed for me, I have nothing left. What will happen to me now?” he added.
Jafar not only went through the damages of livelihood but also emotional scars which left him devastated. In a few hours, life turned upside down for Jafar. He could have never imagined this and found it hard to rebuild the lost livelihoods and hopes of a better future.
Jafar’s story demonstrated the broader impact of communal violence on individuals and communities, highlighting the need for healing and reconciliation in the aftermath of such tragic events.
