Turning Dreams into Reality: The Story of Ahmed and Laaiba at Hunar Academy

In small, often unforgotten corners of the world live children for whom education is a luxury, especially when it comes to high-tech education. Lack of resources, opportunities, poverty, and social barriers often restrict many young minds from utilizing their untapped potentials. But fate, in the form of unexpected opportunity, often changes the course of life.

A beautiful opportunity unfolded in the lives of Ahmed and Laaiba. Raised in a family where every day is a struggle to make ends meet, the brother-sister duo often found themselves grappling with their education until they learned about Hunar Academy.

In an unexpected turn of events, when Ahmed was returning from the mosque after offering his salah, a man distributing the pamphlets of Hunar Academy crossed his path.

Inquisitive Ahmed immediately took the pamphlets and learned about the academy and the dream-fulfilling opportunity.

“I was on my way home after offering my prayers when a man gave me a pamphlet of Hunar. That’s when I found out that free courses are offered here,” Ahmed said while speaking to Miles2Smile.

Ahmed learned that Hunar Academy, an initiative by Miles2Smile, acts as a bridge connecting education for both the privileged and underprivileged with employment opportunities, aiming to develop a skilled and future ready batch of students.

Its goal is to offer affordable or free, technology-driven, skill-based courses to students, along with support and guidance for competitive exams.

Ahmar happily rushed to her sister Laaiba and told her the details he learned.

The brother-sister duo enrolled themselves in the free CCC course at the Hunar Academy. As claimed by the two, the skills they acquire at the academy are beyond their expectations, and they wish to continue learning.

“I am learning a lot here; there is still much more to learn ahead. I’m sure Hunar Academy will teach me a lot more,” said Ahmed.

“I have learned how to type using MS Word, add headings to books, create pie charts, and many other things here,” he added.

Ahmed further told Miles2Smile that he  would recommend this course to everyone: “I would recommend this course to everyone; it’s the best course, and Hunar Academy is the best place to learn it.” Ahmad said.

Fostering Confidence through Hunar

The course has had a remarkable impact on Laaiba as well,  fostering both her confidence and competence. She now comfortably sits at her computer and operates it with enthusiasm and ease. During our recent visit to the Hunar Academy, Laaiba showed her newly acquired computer skills.

With happiness in her eyes, she said, “I have learned how to use a computer, how to type using MS Word, how to change font colors, and many other things.”

“I have learned a lot in a short span of time,” Laaiba added.

Speaking about the teachers at the academy, Laaiba shared with Miles2Smile that she is grateful to be a part of Hunar Academy. She expressed her appreciation for the teachers and mentioned that the teachers give equal attention to the concerns of all students, ensuring that no one feels their education is being offered for free.

“I’ve never felt like I’m studying for free. Everyone is given the same education, and everyone’s problems are addressed,” Laaiba said.

“Even though I don’t pay the fee, I’m taught with the same dedication as the students who pay the fee,” she added.

Hunar Academy is a transformative initiative that aims to provide skills development to the young girls and boys that are needed besides education. With a focus on cultivating young leaders and changemakers in their communities, the foundation has a comprehensive list of courses designed to offer practical skills and entrepreneurial opportunities. Through Hunar Academy, Miles2Smile aims to provide skill-based education to children, irrespective of their family background.

We wish Ahmed and Laaiba best of luck!
