“We were able to celebrate Eid happily because of Miles2Smile; we never thought we would be able to do that, but Miles2Smile made it possible.” said Mohseen Khan, sitting inside his revamped mobile shop, with a broad smile on his face.

Mohseen Khan was one among those who lost his only source of income to Khargone Violence 2022. Khargone witnessed a tragic turn during the Ram Navami celebrations, where what was meant to be a religious occasion spiraled into violence. At Talab Chowk, two processions came face to face—one organized by the Raghuvanshi community and the other by right-wing groups like Bajrang Dal and Gauraksha Samiti. The air was thick with tension, and before long, violence erupted, triggering widespread unrest throughout the city.
In the aftermath, local authorities launched a demolition drive, citing illegal construction as their reason. However, the people affected painted a different picture. Many of them argued that their homes and businesses were legally built, but now they found themselves facing the destruction of their livelihoods. The demolition drive heavily impacted the Muslim community, leaving many without homes or a means to support their families.
Little did Mohseen Khan know the violence would sweep away his source of income. The Hindutva mob allegedly burnt Mohseen’s cell phone shop and left him weeping without fault.
“I have suffered a loss of 1-2 lakhs; it’s such a huge loss. how will I recover from this?” asked Mohseen while Miles2Smille was on a survey to help the survivors of Khargone violence in 2020.
Hearing of the massive loss of Mohseen, Miles2Smile raised a donation appeal and helped to revamp and restock his cell phone shop. We managed to help him and give him back his lost happiness, his livelihood.
Miles2Smile restored his demolition mobile shop and helped him celebrate the Eid of 2022.
“Miles2Smile visited us to survey our loss even during curfew; we were able to celebrate Eid because of them. Thank you, Miles2Smile for all the help.” said Mohseen.
