Celebrating Iftar with Children, No Bumps or Cracks will Stop us

While everyone in the office was occupied with their work, a rush of activity erupted as hundreds of food sacks were carried in, intensifying the work situation. Nonetheless, amidst the swirl of work and bustle, our team thrived on transforming chaos into moments of unity and purpose.

With jokes exchanged, stories recounted, and laughter booming through the halls, our hearts overflowed with joy as we banded together to pack goods for the children whose lives had lately been disturbed.

These were the children of the recently demolished Akhundji Masjid, who have now taken refuge in Madarsan Kalan Mahal.

Team members swiftly packed food items into the vehicle for smile journey towards Madarsan Kalan Mahal

Despite several bumps and breaks in the road, we arrived at our location after over an hour of travel. We swiftly unpacked the children’s meals and joyfully prepared for iftar together.

The team was welcomed by the warm sun beams as soon as we arrived at the mosque and Madarsa Kalan Mahal.

Unloading the bundle of joy and happiness from our vehicle. A joyful moment for the students at Masjid Kalan Mahal.

Kids of Madarsa Kalan Mahal students welcomed us, having hopes in their eyes and a sense of happiness that words fail to explain.

The team decided to have Iftar with those elated kids, and everyone began to prepare Iftar for each other collectively.

Some of us cleaned fruits, some blended sharbat, and a few gathered food to place on the Dastarkhan. Everyone was excited about getting together to celebrate Iftar.

The adolescent children of the madrasa had fasted dutifully throughout the day, and finally the moment to break fast arrived.

Watching the happy children wash the fruits to be cut and meticulously clean each and every bit of apple and grape was the moment of hope and optimism.

Clothed in both white and black attire, we sat around the Dastarkhan, dressed with a colorful array of food—sweet dates, refreshing pink sharbat, juicy fruits, crunchy pakoras, spicy chicken, and much more. “Bismillah!” And we all dig into the food.

As the Namazi started relaxing in the masjid’s bramda after much-awaited Iftaar, we bid farewell and exchanged promises to gather again soon.
