In the quiet town of Nuh, Haryana, the peaceful lives of Aas Mohammad and his family were shattered by a series of heart-wrenching events. Aas, a dedicated security guard at Nalhar Medical College, had just begun his evening shift on August 4, 2023, when he received a devastating call from his sons. Their world was about to crumble.

Authorities arrived at their doorstep, bearing the grim news that their beloved home, a simple haven they had cherished for years, would be demolished. Built “illegally,” they were told, though it had been their sanctuary for as long as they could remember. With just two days to evacuate, Aas rushed back, desperately trying to reason with the officials, but it was futile. Within a mere half-hour, their cherished abode was reduced to rubble.

That night, under the unforgiving open sky, Aas, his sons, and their family faced the harsh reality of homelessness. The dawn of August 5, 2023, brought more anguish as his sons’ tea shop and corn cart were mercilessly destroyed, leaving them with nothing but despair. It was a double disaster, an onslaught that seemed impossible.

Amidst the ruins of their once-happy home, a solitary bicycle stood as a poignant reminder of their loss. It was a stark symbol of innocence, a reminder that, while children may not comprehend the weight of a roof over their heads, they keenly feel the absence of their cherished bicycle.

Tragically, the trauma of this demolition ordeal took a toll on Aas’s family. His son, unable to bear the sudden loss of their livelihood, suffered a severe panic attack that led to his hospitalization. Their world had crumbled, leaving them in a void of despair.

The lonely cot outside Aas’s home, once a gathering place for shared dreams and plans, now sat abandoned amidst the ruins, a silent witness to their suffering. The laughter that once filled the air had been replaced by the deafening silence of despair.

Amid this bleakness, a ray of hope emerged. The Miles2Smile Foundation extended a helping hand during their darkest hour. With compassion and empathy, they transferred Rs 1.5 lakhs to Aas Mohammad’s bank account to cover medical expenses and urgent needs. It was a lifeline, a chance for the young boy to pedal his cherished bicycle amidst the hills once again, and for the family to reunite under the welcoming shade of their khatiya.

We successfully raised a total of 3 lakhs for Aas Muhammad and his family to rebuild their lives and restore their sense of security.
