A Spark In The Dark – Arshad’s Story Of Resilience And Education

Arshad is a fourteen- year-old boy who lives a life of hope, transformation and unbridled happiness. His story is not an ordinary one, he holds a narrative that is applaudable. Arshad was a ten-year-old carefree boy when he first saw the viciousness of life. His father, Jamaluddin, who worked as a bakery product seller and was the sole breadwinner of the family, was brutally lynched during the violence of the Delhi Pogrom 2020.

With the loss of Jamal Uddin, his world shattered. He was a gullible boy, and understanding his life was a herculean task. His steps were heavy, burdened with grief. For his father’s absence brought no relief.

His heart was filled with haunting recollections, but in the depths of darkness, a ray of hope emerged when the Miles2Smile Foundation swiftly intervened and sponsored his education. Arshad was enrolled in Sunrise Public School, a relief school incorporated by the Miles2Smile and the Shaagird Foundation.

From sleepless nights to silent tears, his life has transformed into a bright ray. With the assistance of his alma mater, he’s walking on the path of dreams. He sits in the classroom of Sunrise Public School and recites English poems. He learns to solve mathematical problems and explore the world of science. With a paintbrush in his hand, he paints the sky during his art classes. His inquisitive nature loves to be a part of the educational visits organised by his school.

This is one of those stories that Miles2Smile is always going to talk about because  it  emphasises the most unexpected ways that a little bit of reaching out  may sometimes lead to events unfolding to change the course of lives

The Miles2Smile Foundation wishes Arshad luck!
